I drove the route yesterday. It was open! The route is fun to drive. It’s not too difficult, but it’s especially beautiful because of the views. I would definitely recommend driving it in a 4x4. I’d describe the route as easy to moderate.
I rode the route alone on my BMW R 1200 GS. It was a blast. I can't imagine driving the route in an Audi. So, it's doable on a motorcycle; otherwise, in my opinion, you'd need an SUV designed for off-road driving. Great route, but I’d rate it as moderate.
So if you're in the area, you should definitely take this actual parking lot access road to the waterfall. If you drive counterclockwise, you’ll find a wide, freshly graveled road leading to the small parking lot by the cabins. From the parking lot to the waterfall is a short walk, but you can extend it by following the river downstream. On the way back, after completing the short loop on the much narrower forest trail, there are a few very nice spots to camp for the night—if they aren’t already taken by anglers. Some even have natural fire pits left behind by previous campers 🙂
